Position Summary
We are looking for a public relations professional with experience working in the cybersecurity industry. Join a team of senior PR professionals and contribute immediately by lending your expertise to help shape our global public relations strategy. We are a collaborative team looking for an experienced professional to provide fresh perspectives, and new strategies and tactics. The ideal candidate will regularly engage senior management, subject matter experts, regional teams, department heads, members and others throughout the organization. This role will independently and proactively identify opportunities to generate positive news coverage for the association, its certifications, education offerings, members, research program and other initiatives, as well as build awareness for security as a rewarding profession. Responsibilities
Be a key contributor to the (ISC)2 global media relations strategy, focusing on national, public policy, cybersecurity, IT and vertical market publications
Support (ISC)2 advocacy programs to help advance the security profession and influence favorable policies in the public and private sectors
Develop original PR programs, strategies and tactics that drive results and support the mission and various business objectives
Draft, edit and distribute press releases
Consult with internal teams to identify PR opportunities
Build and maintain relationships with key editors, reporters, bloggers and others, and serve as a point of contact for media
Provide executive media training and coaching
Prepare executives for interviews and staff calls
Coordinate PR efforts with global counterparts
Assist with the development and maintenance of association crisis communication plans
Support and promote events and conferences
Track and regularly report on the performance and effectiveness of the PR program
Follow key media for relevant trends to identify new angles for story pitching
Contribute to the development of thought leadership material, including blogs, white papers, reports, byline articles and infographics
Develop communications plans to support various company initiatives like product and service launches and updates
Collaborate with in-house research team to help guide direction of future market research strategy and direction for PR purposes, including the annual Cybersecurity Workforce Study
Manage third-party PR agencies or contractors as needed
As needed, create original and compelling copy for multiple communications channels, audiences, and regions, including web, print, events, video scripts, blogs, newsletters, white papers and social media
Miscellaneous duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
At least 6 years of experience in a Public Relations or Communications role, either corporate, contract media, or agency
Exceptional communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills; can confidently articulate information in a professional manner to individuals at all levels, and with both internal and external partners
Advanced proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, SharePoint), internet and web applications/navigation
Experience with managing projects, vendors, and budgets preferred
Knowledge of cybersecurity or information technology preferred
Experience working with member associations or nonprofits a plus

Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and large projects in a deadline-driven environment and with limited oversight
Disciplined in meeting business goals and objectives
Works well independently and as part of a team; develops positive relationships with team and clients
Ability to proactively identify opportunities and quickly implement solutions
Sense of Urgency - Meets deadlines, establishes appropriate priority, executes tasks and projects timely
Physical & Mental:
Up to 10% travel may be required
Work normal business hours and extended hours when necessary
Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting, for prolonged periods
Regular use of office equipment such as a computer/laptop and monitor computer screens
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other computer components
